Vans N-S
Nissan
The Nissan Navara, a rival to the L200, was also revamped for 2006. The 2001 model can be purchased for under £6000. The 2005 will command a price of around £15,000. The Outlaw special edition was particularly popular and raised the standard that other manufacturers follow. Don’t forget the van is only a van with its optional hard top.
The 2003 Kubister has been particularly popular for Nissan. You can pick up this van for between £3000 and £13000. Remember this van is cheap, small and cost effective to insure. But remember you are unlikely to carry a ton with this van; so don’t follow the maniacs in the outside lane of the motorway.
Peugeot
The Peugeot 206 requires no introduction and I am sure you have seen many van versions. Introduced in 2000 the van can be bought for under £10000. Courier workers or young builders will probably feel at home behind the wheel of a 206 van. As vans go this is a very stylish commercial vehicle and comfortable. Being relatively small the van’s diesel engine is able to deliver a nippy ride making it very versatile. Expect to pay low insurance premiums.
Peugeot’s Expert wasn’t so expert. This van was re-vamped in 2004 and now gives two options; a panel van or window. It has a very powerful diesel engine, which makes it particular good for long distance. On the other hand it is very easy to drive making it suitable to town driving. It seems to be cheap to insure because parts are easily accessible thanks to the model sharing with the likes of Citroen, Fiat and Peugeot.
Peugeot’s Boxer has several engine options. 94 models can be acquired for less than £800. New models were sold between £13000 and £30000. Some of the engines are the best around. Insurance rates vary according to van version selected.

Renault
Introduced in 2003 the Master is Renault’s largest van and is priced accordingly. Expect to pay between £5000 and £34000 for this large van. Just remember big isn’t always better so do shop around for the best deal. On newer models there are some great add-ons such as Sat Nav and rear parking sensors.
Rover
The Rover commerce van is not widely available but a relatively young 2003 model can be purchased for £3500. These vehicles being car like, normally in good condition and are reasonable to insure. The diesel engine will keep running costs under control.
Scania
The Scania P94d is more of a truck than a van but 98 models can be purchased for £16000.
Seat
The Seat Inca vans (1998-2003) are good runners and can be purchased in a price range of £600 to £3500. The size or drive would not be too dissimilar to the Astra van, making the van a great run around and motorway shuttle. A car like van will always be easy to insure.
Skoda
The Hi Cube van can also be purchased as a pick up. 1998 models are priced at under £800 and have Power\assisted steering, diesel or petrol engines and detachable tops. Later models, 2000, will cost £1200 plus. Skoda has always been cheap to insure.
Suzuki
Cheap may well be cheap. This little van called Carry isn’t so robust but can still carry! Only pay in the region of £1500 for a 99 model. The new model will offer good value for money and cost in the region of £9000. It will do well around the town, popping here and there.
