Volkswagen Vans 2007/2008
VW Panel Vans
Generally Volkswagen Vans are manufactured to be reliable and dependable but lack in UK wide availability. VW claim to be working hard to improve the Van Branches in the UK.
The VW Panel Van comes with optional fog lights but is pictured extensively in marketing literature with the option added. The Caddy and Crafter are the two main models with the Caddy Van being small and the Crafter Van being extremely large.
The VW Van has been heavily marketed with safety as priority. For example the all wheel system allows better traction in wet weather.
You can load these Vans up to 17 cubic meters. The small van has a load capacity of just over 3 cubic meters.
The payloads start from just over 700 kilo to just under 2700 kilo.
Parking sensors, side airbags and curtain airbags improve the overall value of these vans.
Whilst ABS is not available on every model it is an extremely beneficial feature and helps bolster the vans position in the van sales market.
Sadly the Crafter comes with an optional tow bar.
Volkswagen Caddy
With a payload of only 742 kg this van is the smallest van in the Volkswagen fleet. However, you do have the option of two engine sizes and not one but two sliding doors (second door is an optional extra).
Whilst CD players tend to be relative poor when fitted to Vans this little Caddy gets a pretty good model as standard.
The payload will take a standard euro sized pallet.
The Caddy Van body is partially galvanized creating good anti corrosion properties.
Options include front fog lights, factory fitted tow bar, factory fitted air con, Sat Nav, On-board computer, Alarm, electric mirrors, electric windows and alloy wheels.
The award winning Direct Shift Gearbox is certainly an attraction to Van buyers.
The overall dimensions of the VW Caddy Van are W1558 x H1257 x L1781 (compartment only).
Volkswagen Transporter
The Transporter Van has won many awards over the years but not necessarily because of its good looks. The Transporter Diesel Vans are generally economical whilst remaining powerful. Both the short wheelbase and long wheelbase Transporter vans accommodate euro pallets.
The fuel capacity is 20 litres more than the Caddy Van.
The 4 motion traction system improves handling but is not available on all VW Van models. The VW ABS system improves braking significantly.
In summary, the main selling features of the VW Transporter Van are:-
The ability to carry up to 5 passengers
The option for a long or short wheelbase
A versatile Transporter Window Van option that allows partial window concealment and added security for partial loads
A Turning circle of just under 12m
Tiptronic controls
Volkswagen Transporter Sportline Van
Designed to be more attractive than the standard Transporter.
Volkswagen Crafter
The most demanding van drivers can drive this newcomer to the Volkswagen range. The powerful engines will satisfy the van driver and provide necessary pulling power. The VW Crafter Van remains the biggest VW Van.
Just because the van is big does not mean one size fits all, indeed Volkswagen have provided many options under the Crafter Van. Load volumes range from just under 8 cubic metres to just over 17 cubic metres. Payloads max out at between 1000 kg and 2500 kg. The fuel capacity can reach 75 litres.
Not just long and short wheel base options exist on this Van but also a mid wheel base option.
Halogen main headlights provide great visibility.
Bulkhead pack A provides a second sliding door, Satnav and Air conditioning.
Turning circle of only 12.3m
Metallic paint available
